Some Salamanca residents are stranded after a part of Old Route 17 collapsed today following heavy rain on Tuesday. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department says a 30-foot section of the road fell in after rain washed away a culvert. Old Route 17 is closed between Breed Run Road and Center Road, and the state department of transportation says there’s no estimate on when the problem will be fixed.
