Some dude just contacted me through my website mikeledonne.net and informed me that he just bought up a bunch of domaine names and that one of them was mikeledonne. This was a domaine name established by an old record company I was with years ago and so it was never mine to own. Anyway the guy said he wants me to pay him $850. for it. That seems absolutely insane to me. That much money for my own name? Does anyone out there know anything about this stuff? I know you can get a domaine name for about $50-$80. He explained that the domains are valued depending on how many links they have going to them and how authoritative these sites linking to the domain are when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation. He started talking about the metrics etc... This sounded like a bunch of mumbo jumbo for I want you to pay me a sh#t load of money so you can buy your own name. Does even mean that much anymore these days since people tend to google everything anyway? What do you think? I mean theres no way in hell Im paying that kind of money to a complete stranger for my own name but Im still curious what people think.
