Some important information for Families and Paratroopers alike. Posted at dodea.edu/Budget/furloughDayList.cfm are the scheduled dates for furloughing of DODEA school teachers (Fort Bragg is on the 13th row). To streamline, the following are the dates for furlough: August 30th September 6th September 13th September 20th September 27th. Schools will be closed on these days, however, CDCs will not be closed during the furlough period for Fort Bragg or DODEA schools. Check with your childcare providers to ensure they will be open on these days. Post-wide furlough begins 8 July. Commissaries will be closed on Mondays between 8 July and 20 September. DoD civilians will be required to take 16 hours of furlough time during each pay period for 11 weeks. Furloughs will affect medical treatment facilities, family support services, Department of Public Works, etc. It will have a significant impact on our community. As a result, be patient and plan ahead. Most organizations will utilize Fridays (coming to be known as “Furlough Fridays”) as their furlough day, but there are no guarantees. Always call ahead to ensure services are available.
