A man on Sunday committed suicide at his Embu parent in-laws home after he allegedly failed to get back his wife who had jilted him. John Joshua, 30, hanged himself on a tree at Ithara village of Itabua sublocation of Mbeti North location, Embu West subcounty. Witnesses said the deceased, who is from Kerugoya in Kirinyaga county, separated with his wife and has been visiting his parents-in-law to secure their re-union. The witnesses said Joshua threatened to commit suicide at the same home in December is the wife did not return to him. He was overwhelmed by the in-laws who stopped his plan, the witness aid. Ends.. The witnesses said that the on Sunday the deceased brought a man whom he wanted his parents in law to employ as a farmhand but that the in-laws rejected him. The witnesses said Muriithi was not happy at the rejection of the man and thus he disappeared at around 5.30 before the parents in law found him hanging on the tree in the homestead. The eye witnesses said they suspected that the deceased might have used the issue of bringing the farm hand to divert his in laws’ attention from his plan of committing suicide. Deputy Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Terry Wangui confirmed the incident noting that they also had the version that he had threatened to commit suicide before and that he could have decided to fulfill his earlier threat. She said they were investigating the incident and that the body of the deceased was removed to the Embu Level Five hospital Mortuary.
