Some of Chloes supporters have contacted us this evening asking us about palliative care due to Chloes relapse. Its really not a subject that we want to discuss right now we have always tried to keep Chloes Cancer positive, you our supporters have always been positive. Myself and Karen are not naive to the situation we now face. This is due to a BBC article about a friend of ours thats battling Neuroblastoma. It quoted figures that we our selves who have spent the past year researching this nasty cancer have never heard. It stated that the NHS will only offer palliative care after relapse. We fully understand how frightening this disease is and that awareness helps but the NHS has multiple options to treat relapse. The UK doesnt have every option but no country does. Our dedicated doctors and nurses pioneer techniques that help our children. Chloe will have a Lu-DOTATATE scan at UCLH next week. It was the product of the NHS .The reality has always been a numbers game. Its the second biggest killer of children in the UK but no ones ever heard of it. It is likely that we may need to pursue treatment abroad but we as family have not lost confidence in the NHS. It is a very complicated disease thats very hard to treat but we have some amazing doctors, researchers that are doing their upmost to understand and treat this nasty disease. Our biggest wish other than Chloe surviving and living a long life is people are aware of Neuroblastoma and that awareness will ultimately help to fund and improve the outcome for all children.
