Some of you have told me I need to calm down on some of my posts. That youre not racists, and why am I preaching to the choir, as it were. Some of you have even shared stories about how you grew up as one of few white kids in your area, and had difficulties as a result. The term reverse racism has been thrown around. Yet, no one said shit when I made strong posts about Arizonas so called religious freedom bill that would have made it legal to discriminate against gay people. No one told me to calm down the tone of my posts then. No one told me not to be angry then. Discussions about race make people uncomfortable. Maybe you need to ask yourself why. Heres the deal, when people that look like your kids are getting killed for no reason, and the police can hardly be bothered, you can tell me to tone it down. When people that look like your kid are victims of a system (Thats what racism is, a system that benefits one group over another. Its not getting punched by a Mexican kid cuz Im white.) that sees them getting suspended at three times the rate as other kids, you can tell me to tone it down. When people who look like you are going to jail with much more frequency, and for much longer times than someone who looks like me for the same crimes, you can tell me to tone it down. I dont expect, or want, anyone to feel guilty because of anything I post. Your privilege is not your fault. Your refusal to accept that your privilege is real, is. So if you dont like my posts, dont read em. Dont watch em. But maybe, just maybe, if you do keep reading and watching, one day your question will change from Why does David keep posting this stuff?, to Why is it necessary for David to keep posting this stuff? Because when the only people who are getting mad are the ones who are being wronged, aint shit gonna change. Some of you have asked me why I sometimes get so angry. My question is Why dont you?
