Some of you may not know this, but I found it interesting. Most of us have seen the signs that state, “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.” I wondered where it started and I am about to tell you. It started on September 4, 1939 from the British Ministry of Information (MOI) a day after the Brits declared war on Germany. The first sign they came up with was “YOUR COURAGE YOUR CHEERFULNESS YOUR RESOLUTION WILL BRING US VICTORY,” the second sign was “FREEDOM IS IN PERIL DEFEND IT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT.” These posters were tacked up on telephone post and walls throughout the country. But, incase the Germans landed in England another sign was made which was “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.” These last signs were to be destroyed after the war, however some were kept back by someone and stored in the British archives, just lately bought by Stuart Manly, an owner of a bookstore. His wife liked them so much that she had some framed and placed in their store. After many other people liking them, the rest is history and spread through out England and other parts of the world. Of course now we see different variations of the original sign.
