Some of you may remember me posting a prayer request for Baby Clay Allen (the almost 1 year old from the Elkhorn City area who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer).....Read this praise report his mother posted. I truly believe this child will be completely healed and delivered of cancer. God will use this to show others how awesome HE is. Please continue to agree and pray with me. Day 6, BLESSINGS COME WHEN LEAST EXPECTED! Today was a great day!! Clay has been wonderful, even with all the testing, poking and probing that went on this morning. He was a champ!! We stood in on the rounds as the Dr.s told us about how wonderful Clay is doing and how amazed they are that he isnt showing the terrible and painful symptoms associated with this type of childhood cancer! I just told them its God taking care of him! I have no doubt about this!! His oncologist/chemotherapist came by this evening and met with us for the first time. He gave us more hope in regards to the nasty side effects of his chemo. BUT HERE IS THE BEST PART!!! According to the tests and the doctors reports, even though all his results arent in, what they do have show in Clays favor!! He is thought to have the intermediate risk type of Neuroblastoma and even though it is stage 4 already, his chemo treatments are possibly going to be a much milder dose of the treatments give to the high risk patients. Which means that if his other tests show intermediate risk the he will only have to have chemo!!! No radiation or bone marrow infusion!!! Which translates to him not having to go through so much if the side effects as compared to this higher risk Neuroblastoma!! The dr. said he was pretty sure that Clay was intermediate risk because he is a perfectly healthy baby boy aside from the cancer tumors throughout his little body, but he doesnt have a definitive answer until tomorrow hopefully. We do know the right adrenal gland is completely gone due to the 2.5 x 2.5 inch tumor that has taken it over and will eventually have to be removed. But he can function hormonally normal with the one adrenal gland. His kidney function is good though as far as we know on the right side. This would mean he would have a much better treatment routine and also recover better from the chemo. We will know more tomorrow after the tumor-table meeting of the doctors.
