Some people may already know from Participation and Negotiation, but the City of Melbourne have applying a participatory budget approach to their 10 yea financial plan. This included a Peoples Panel of 46 randomly selected participants who deliberated on where the CoM should prioritise spending. Their recommendations have just been released and can be seen here. Some of them are really interesting, including providing large bike sheds at major entrance points to the CBD i.e. Carlton Gardens, so people can easily transfer to walking through the city. They also have recommendations for developers contributions and selling off some of the CoM assets.
