Some people were asking why the spider couldnt be used in a few venues (well, it couldnt be moving and couldnt be used to lower the guys down). After having done the backstage tour, I know the answer. It has to do with the weight of the motors that control it. First they have to pull regular rigging and lighting support beams up and hang them from the roof, and then they have to pull up the beams which hold the motors for the spider. Those weigh 3 times as much as the spider itself. Finally they pull the spider up. There are a few venues which can support the spider but not the motors, so in those venues it cant be moving. Also, even if the venue can hold the motors, sometimes when the spider moves, the stresses on the roof change enough that the venue doesnt allow it to be used. Its clearly not as heavy or crazy as Tommy Lees Cruecifly, which could only be used in a few venues! I guess KISS has a better chief engineer than Crue.
