Some thoughts at the close of the day: Its been a long time - TopicsExpress

Some thoughts at the close of the day: Its been a long time since I released an album (if you can call what I did in high school releasing an album) and I find it to be high time. Ive been listening through my catalog of recordings and demos to build additional content for my website (stay tuned) and found old songs that I actually didnt hate. I pulled out the guitar and played and sang through them again and found that I could sing them so much better than before. After such an amazing weekend of recording with Winchester and Weaver Family Band, I not only feel inspired to be making music, but also I feel like I learned so much in only one day. As I think about how Colin and I sang on Saturday and I listen to the silly way I used to sing my own music Im quite struck by how long it took me to learn a semblance of simplicity. Its quite amazing that even with my years of vocal training and experience I needed to learn how to sing my own music from Colin Weaver, a man who I watched learn how to sing almost from scratch. Thank you, Colin, for that lesson. I believe that sometime in the coming year I will work on recording a short, 6-song album of love songs. As I said, I was looking through these old songs I found some that still held some water (although some are rather melodramatic as they were written when I was junior in Goddam high school...) and they sort of span my relationship history in miniature. I think I want to record these songs mostly as they were written, with only the most egregious moments of melodrama removed, attempting to capture the mood of the time when I wrote each song. So, in short, I really look forward to putting this music out into the world and sharing it with all of you. Ladies (you know who you are...), thank you for your inspiration over the years. Stay tuned for Love Songs; Im sure Ill be keeping you posted. Goodnight Internet; Thanks for listening
