Some thoughts today: At the end of the movie, Charlie Wilsons War, the CIA officer played by Phil Hoffman, tells Tom Hanks a Zen parable. There is a 14 year old boy in a village who gets a horse. Everyone says how wonderful this is. Well see says the Zen Master. 2 years later, the boy falls off the horse and breaks his leg badly. How terrible! the villagers exclaim. Well see. says the Master. A couple years later, the army comes to press all the young men into the military. The young man has a badly set leg and is passed over. How fortunate for him! say the villagers. Well see. says the Zen master. In the movie, of course, one heard the sound of a jet overhead at this last (a foreshadowing of how Afghanistan became a terrorist state from which 9-11 was directed). As far as the Hobby Lobby case is concerned, I can only say Well see.....
