Some tips of how to attempt po exam..( BY ONE OF THE TOPPERS) (I am last year po topper.. got under 50 all india rank.. I cleared scale II exam as well and currently working as scale II IT manager.. I have cleared rbi grade b pre exam as well. Now waiting for mains result. I didnt went for any coaching and prepared for bank exam while I was working. This is how I approached the exam and some general tips) 1. Circular arrangement ques in resoning consume lot of time and most students are not able to solve even after giving 10 mins. As a rule attempt it in the end only if u have time. Just give 1 look at the ques, if u feel its complex with 7 or 8 people to be seated in circular or rectangular fashion, give it a skip and attempt in end only if u find time. I never attempted this question in any of exams. 2. Comprehension again is a bone of contention for many. What I have found is that no matter what, most people end up marking wrong answers for comprehension questions. As a rule I used to attempt at max 2 or 3 ques from comprehension. Keep comprehension for end and attempt mininal from there. 3. Most people attempt a lot from english section and end up having a lot of negative answers. Please be careful while attempting english section. It is the section with most trap. 3. Quant is the most scoring section. In quant u can be sure whether your answer is right or wrong. Remember, you will find toppers having very high score in quant. Only solution of quant is practise. Practise as much as u can. 4. Dont spend unnecessary time in reasoning in paper. I have found that reasoning is generally doable in paper. Except for arrangement questions, a little bit of brain and most questions can be solved. Try to utilise your brain maximum there. 5. For GA, either you know the answer or you dont. Method of elimination can sometimes work in GA by trying to eliminate those options which you know are definitely wrong. Ideally you must prepare Last 6 months of GA. There is lots of good material available on net for GA. I have found that magazines have become redundant and less static questions are asked these days. More questions are asked from banking domin. Coming to books: For quant m tyra or rs agarwal. If u can do rs agarwal, then that is best. However I would suggest m tyra as it is crisp and less no of questions. Moreover quant section now require good calculation speed as is clear from increasing number of DI questions. I did both rs and m tyra. I found both equally good. Times institute quant books are equally good. M tyra and times books is best combination. I did times book as well. For GA, pratiyogita darpan for static portion. emahendras bankers adda or gr8ambitionz modules are also good. There is no substitute for newspaper and in newspaper there is nothing like The Hindu. Please make a habbit to read newspaper everyday. It wont take more that 30 mins to read it. U can read it while having meals. Remember, I studied from above sources only. For computers I didnt studied anything as I am from computes background. However I have found that computer questions are generally doable if u have basic knowledge of computers. I didnt prepared anything for english as I was comfortable in it. I would suggest you all to do practise for English as much as u can. For reasoning, books like rs agarwal verbal and non verbal have become redundant. Please dont waste your time there. I found time coaching institute reasoning book very good. Try to get that book and solve it fully. I did that whoke book. There is one analytical book as well I think. Do that as well. Some general tips: Please do mock tests as much as you can. you should ideally do 2 mocks every week one month prior to exam. There is no substitute for it. I had subscribed to careerpower test series. And used to be amongst top 10 consistently. That should be your aim. There are a lot of test series available. I have found time reasoning materiak to be very good. If possible try to get it from someone and do it thoroughly. Believe me, it will boost your confidence a lot. I did the same. Your exam approach should be : 45 mins each for quant and reasoning, 6 or 7 mins for ga, 5 mins for gk and 17-18 mins for English. This was my approach. You have to be very quick in exam. You cant sit and think there. If you dont know any question skip it anf please dont spend more than 2 mins for any question in quant or reasonong. Accuracy matters a lot in exam. I have seen people getting failed just bcoz of low accuracy. You need not to attempt whole paper. I did just 130 questions last year. Paper was very tough. If paper is tough, it will be for every one. You need to find easy questions. During my slot easy questions were in end. Students spend too much time on initial questions and hence left easy ones. Please have a look at whole paper at least once. Find easy ones, attempt them and move on. Very important: for banking questions, go to rbi site. There you will find fnq in right side. Click that. It contains lot of information. Read that without fail. You will find most of banking questions from there. No need to read any other material for banking.i did the same and in my slot all questions were from rbi site only. This has become very long. It was my experience which I thought of sharing with you. I will keep on sharing more. Best wishes and good luck to eash of you !
