Somebody Cares Responds to Super Typhoon Haiyan – Philippines / November 12, 2013 Before Super Typhoon Haiyan, Somebody Cares was working with our partner relationships and ministries in the Philippines responding to the 7.1 earthquake that struck central Philippines, Bohol province in early October. God was connecting strategic partnerships in preparation for one of the most devastating and catastrophic natural disasters in the Philippines’ history. Typhoon Haiyan came across the Philippines with winds over 190mph resulting in a tidal surge pushing inland destroying entire communities. Early projections are estimating over 10,000 casualties with 70,000 families affected as well as close to 350,000 people displaced. Somebody Cares is currently in direct communication with strategic partners who are already on the ground connecting relationships, assessing damage and identifying immediate needs. As reports come in we will determine how we can best respond through both financial and material resources. Our commitment has always been and will continue to be the empowerment of local partners who are on the ground aiding those who are in greatest need. You can be a tangible expression of Christ’s love to Typhoon survivors through your generous donations. We will continue to up date you through our website and social media as we become aware of immediate and ongoing needs. You may go to our website at SomebodyCares.Org to assist.
