Someone asked me what my goals were if I were re-elected to the city council by the voters next tuesday? I am ready to continue to serve and have a vision to lead us to the growth we need and want as a community! 1.) Add 30-50 housing units 2.) Add 5 businesses to the community 3.) A new medical facility in our community 4.) New sidewalks in downtown to continue to beautify our main street. 5.) Further expansion of recreational activities through: a.) added miles to trail system b.) expansion of camping opportunities c.) new recreational facility d.) development and implement a park beautification plan 6.) No empty buildings on main street 7.) 8-10% further reduction in property taxes 8.) Continued Population growth 9.) 20-25 million dollars in economic growth between 2014-2018 10.) Completion of Vision 2020 strategic plan two years in advance 11.) Develop Rock Rapids comprehensive marketing plan 12.) Develop with local businesses a spousal job search program to assist spouses with finding employment once here in Rock Rapids which then encourages them and their families to move and settle here 13.) Spec building competed and filled in Industrial park 14.) Expand and develop a housing incentive plan for rehabilitation in order to rent 15.) Continue to fund the economic development position
