Someone said and I paraphrase that your life is marked by the people you meet and the books you read…In my SS2, my older brother and pastor gave me a book “5 choices for women who win” by Daisy Osborn , the wife of renowned Evangelist, TL Osborn.The book was quite big but I took it along to school.So, I tried to read the book bit by bit. I kept reading till I finished it. The books had pictures of the mighty works of Jesus being demonstrated through the Ministers. It’s funny but in the whole book, just one statement stood out in my memory till now. She wrote “You can’t help God”. Quite a short statement but it did something to me. I kept meditating on that statement and it dawned on me that yes,I can’t help God but God can help me! That was it. Meanwhile, being a student in the Arts class, I had challenges understanding and appreciating Mathematics. I recall how I would manage to get maybe 15 over 40 and I would be rejoicing.Mathematics became a nightmare but not after I encountered that statement. Then,I observed that my mates in the Science classes were doing well in Mathematics, in fact our Mathematics teacher had always commented on our poor performance and would refer us to check out the performances of our mates in other classes. I took that in and sought the help of God…and by inspiration, I began to structure my prep hour to include working out Mathematics questions with my mates in Science class. Gradually, I started to improve in Mathematics.it was like a dream when my result in Mathematics started looking like those from the Science class. My Mathematics teacher thought it was a fluke until I maintained the standard and I was not the only one doing well, there was a revival of some sort for the class. By the time one of my school leaving certificate results were out, I had a distinction in Mathematics…Indeed God helped me by opening my mind and brain to understand. Time would not permit me to narrate the impact of other books like “How to be a woman after God’s own Heart”, “The Lady,Her Lover and Her Lord” and many others which have indeed marked my life for life but like Daniel in the Bible, you can understand by books.Remember, reading affects your intellect#TestimonyThursday#
