Something I am seeing more and more of that is very promising. I have met many people who are where I was 10-15 years ago. Just really getting started on life and faced with one insane hurdle after another. Unlike me at the time, though, these folks are rejecting the idea of credit and owing people money. If they do borrow money, they pay it back as fast as they possibly can. Debt is a trap. It is sometimes a necessary one, but never something that should be embraced. I have had the honor to loan money to people in dire straits who have gone out of their way to pay it back as soon as possible. Not because I demanded it or was charging interest (I never charge interest on a loan), but because they could not tolerate the idea of owing money to someone. In these examples, I take heart. Maybe part of our culture is growing out of accepting financial slavery.
