Something about Academic Bible Criticism thats been bothering me for a while: Heres my question. Assuming, arguendo, that the Bible was redacted at some point and various books with different authors were interwoven to form one coherent text, why did the redactor do such a pathetic job? Its pretty obvious that there are multiple voices in the Bible. Orthodox Judaism has its explanations, academia has theirs. But the questions are obvious. How could the redactor screw up so badly? Fix the mistakes! Make it sound like one book! In my mind, Bible Critics need to answer this question. Orthodox Jews have a variety of answers for this question already. You just plug your favorite answer into the gaping hole. To address the first four books, I prefer the idea that God speaks to us in multiple languages and voices and perspectives because Torah and God are objective, but open to subjective interpretation. As for the Book of Deuteronomy, obviously it would have its own voice because it was written by Moses who was writing with a specific agenda. Thoughts?
