Something fishy going on I sourced a large pub around 3/4 - TopicsExpress

Something fishy going on I sourced a large pub around 3/4 months ago for a investor friend, we asked the council planning plus the environmental health to meet us at the pub, we showed them our plans of what we intended to do, The pub is I a bad condition, the basement is full of asbestos, the planning were happy with our outline plans for a 20 bedroom HMO there is no article 4. The only sticking point is there is a covenant to say it can only be used as a pub. The planning even suggested how we could add extra rooms to the side, the environ lady has been great all along the way. The brewery do not know who owns the freehold neither does the council. They have both stated they cannot find evidence that they own it My investors solicitor has had a email *Further to your email below advising that your client wishes to convert the above premises into a residence of multiple occupation I have referred the matter to the Council member for their views on disposing of the Freehold Interest and I would advise that they would not wish to dispose of the Council’s interest at the present time* My Question is If they cannot prove they own the freehold how can they say that they do not wish to dispose of it, The council are currently compulsory purchasing the old pubs and building around this area to redevelop them for social housing
