Something from my journal that is really applicable to my life right now. People dont realize the power that their words have. . . My mom raised me to never say the word hate, to never tell people to shut up, and to invest power and meaning into the words that I use and to speak life into people through my words. This way of being raised has had an impact on the way that I speak to people today. And I do my best to always speak that way I was raised to. . . Unfortunately though I catch myself putting the same amount of power into the words that others speak towards me. I find myself getting hurt over the smallest words because in my mind every single word spoken to me is spoken with a deliberate intent and a plotted out thought. I have to zoom out from the picture and remind myself that not everyone was raised to place power behind there words in the same way that I was. To some, words are just a passing sound meant to fill a gap. But to me words are so important. When Ive had my worst days I sit down to a pen and paper and release dreams and visions through my writing. To me, words are the median of expressing your true heart. And sometimes I have to remind myself not to put too much power behind other peoples words even though I try to put power into mine.
