Something here just doesnt make sense. Why would the police go to his house and request a search if nothing had been said about his guns? Why did his mother bother the police in the first place rather than call her son first???? Is there some history behind all this that isnt being brought out? If this is truly an injustice, and the police overstepped their bounds, then yes, they should clear this mans name and punish those that caused it. From what is written, I see no violation of the laws having been committed. You CAN transport a gun in New Jersey, if it is locked in the trunk and has a lock to prevent it from being fired, or the firing mechanism removed and located in another section of the vehicle. More information is definitely needed before I can side with the ruling authority or the victim.
