Psalm 85:8-13 We cannot see the entire path, or how Gods grace will intervene and make good from the pain of our lives; but even in our unknowing, God is with us on that path, and when we need to see the bend in the road ahead, the mist will clear enough for our visibility. Katie Givens Kime We dont like to admit that we cannot see all things, or predict how something will turn out, or determine precisely how God will act. We like to be certain, planned out, and have the answer in our pocket. Many Christians believe if they read the Bible enough, attend church enough, or pray enough, there will be no more troubles, or bends ahead. As you and I know, there are always troubles and bends ahead. Does this man we have not be faithful enough? Absolutely not! God has never promised a life in this world free from harm, disappointment, despair, and confusion. Not once! Read your Bible and see that God does not prevent bad things from happening (most of the time) AND God never leaves the persons side going through the experience (all the time). The Psalmist knows this all too well. A church, anywhere in this world and at any time, experiences times of growth and death. It is a living organism filled with people who come and go, filled with ideas and practices that determine its function, and it interacts with the world around it. Much like our own bodies, it too must adapt and change to survive, just like you and I must do. Sure, there may be difficult days ahead, and there will be times of great celebration. There may be bends in the road, and those bends will reveal something new and wonderful that we would have never seen before. In the end, faith is a journey of trust and belief, of celebration and mourning, of saying hello and goodbye. Oh, what a journey God is setting before us, and what a faithful companion God will be!
