Something we all need to be aware of for our own states school for the Deaf (if you have one in your state!) He graduated in 1981, and his son now attended for a while (moved to a new school since). The school for two years have been using Cued speech for all academic classes..He explains the number of Deaf teachers in Academic area has dropped to one or two. He explained that he didnt read carefully his sons IEP in which it has the goal of using % of accuracy of reading independently vs reading with cued speech. He wished he had read it carefully and added % of reading with ASL (bilingually). This dads attitude is very factual with some wry looks, wry comments.. ]
