Sometime back, we went to witness a programme ‘Grand parents’ Day’ at our grand daughter’s school. After a long time, I was dressed in a suit with matching shirt & a tie. Expecting a smart crowd, I wanted to deck up. A major problem arose while trying to wear my freshly shined shoes. I had developed a gross ankle oedema & the shoes would not fit in! So, I had to replace my shoes with a pair of sandals & would you believe, I changed my entire dress to match my sandals! Somehow, we reached the school. Now, we had to go to the ‘hall’ from the gate, which was at a distance. After the last year’s accident, my wife was still having a problem in walking, especially on grass. However, with hope in our heart & prayer in our lips, we started. Finally & eventually, we reached & occupied two chairs in the last row. The first thing my wife whispered, “From here, I’ll not be able to see Minty’s face on the dais.” I asked her, “Where are your specks?” “Left it in the car” was her prompt reply. To make the long story short, I had to limp for another kilometer to fetch her specks. I caught up my breath & looked around. Certainly, I was still the best dressed one & with maximum hair on the top! The programme was short & sweet. All the oldies looked sufficiently proud and happy, by watching their granddaughters’ performances. No special event took place on our return. But reaching home, I was unable to get up from the back seat of the car. I sat there for some time and slowly asked the driver, “Son, can you give me your hand? I can’t get up from the seat.” He smiled said, “Sure, sir!”
