Sometimes Likes attract!Many times we hear people say that Opposites attract and likes repel mostly when it involves starting a relationship. This has been inscribed in our memories so much that we unconsciously start looking for someone who is the opposite of who we are. The downside of this statement is that it is not all together true! Let me share some of the likes that attract or that should/ought to attract with us.1. God fearing. I hear people say when they are asked what qualities they seek for in a Man/Woman, ‘Oh I want someone who is God fearing’. My question is- “do you fear God’? God will never give his daughter/son to someone who doesn’t know their worth. When Church or the things of God are mentioned you cringe and then you expect to start a relationship with someone that is on fire for God? One of you will tire quickly- trust me. To get the God fearing guy or babe, become genuinely God-fearing yourself.2. Fun to be with. This category is a very interesting one. Everyone wants that special person to be fun to be with. Funny, loves to create warmth, spontaneous, and so on but in all sincerity not all of us are fun to be with. Some of us are colder than the North-Pole and when we even manage to smile, the world suddenly freezes over because people are not sure if it was a smile or a grimace! Well I’ve got news for you, to get someone who is fun; you must be a lover of fun too. You cannot have an almost expressionless face like the Mona Lisa painting and a demeanour of a bodyguard and expect to attract someone like Tina Fey, who always has a smile on her face and is very spontaneous.3. Sense of Humour. This one is very important. If you cannot catch a simple joke or even laugh at yourself then you need to be worked on! My friend once had a boyfriend that had a problem with her ever smiling and warm nature. He would say things like ‘you are always smiling. Sometimes I wonder if you don’t think’. At first she didn’t see it as a problem but after a while, she noticed she started making conscious efforts not to smile. She eventually ended things with him anyways. This world is harsh as it is, a little humour won’t hurt. Add humour in your relationship and you’d be shocked at the transformation you’d experience!4. Generous. This category is the most abused. Many women say I want a man that is generous, likes to spend on me and generally makes me feel like a billion dollars. Well I’ve got news for you- if you are not just as generous to this man/woman, you are cheating yourself. A truly generous person will not withhold giving no matter the circumstances. In other words, whether you give them or not, they won’t stop giving. But just imagine that this generous person is receiving almost in the same proportion as he/she is giving? Now that is what I call a healthy arrangement. The giving will keep flowing and there will be ‘love at home’. Being generous is like challenging your partner to do more.5. Compassionate. Women say this a lot. I want my Man to be kind. If you are not kind, you will lose him/her to someone who is. That’s the bitter truth. Kindness cannot be overemphasized. It is the kindness in a woman’s eyes that gives strength to that very tired man. It is kind and affectionate words that make couples want to give their best shot. Imagine being with someone who never has a soft answer. All he/she does is nag, nag, and nag. Who would want to remain in such in relationship? Definitely not anyone in his/her right frame of mind.The list is endless. Many of us are still single not because the right person isnt there, but mostly because we have not been able to attract what we like. If you want a Kindhearted woman, be a kindhearted man etc.
