Sometimes, people will send me messages telling me that I am wise beyond my years. It doesnt come as a surprise when you have parents like mine. 24 years. In those years, they traveled to hell and back, and didnt let what the doctors had to say affect what they knew the power of God could do. In the four years of life my dad had post-stroke, he rallied more than the doctors ever suspected possible. At their wedding , they vowed to be there for eachother for better or for worse. Most married couples I know would have ignored those vows and probably given up when they knew that Meredith was physically and mentally disabled. For two years, they refused to give up and traveled to doctors all over until they got a diagnosis. They couldve easily given up four years ago, when my dad called and told my mom he didnt feel well. Upon arrival to the hotel room, he couldnt move his entire right side. I will never forget my moms voice on that hotel phone-line saying I think my husband is having a stroke. My mom stayed by his side for ten days straight and rode home in the back of an ambulance for 18 hours. She was at the hospital with him for two straight months, while still being an incredible mother to both of her girls. If a marriage survived both of those- im impressed. Now certainly, they couldnt handle one more thing. They couldve given up when the doctors told us it was cancer. They couldve up when they told us it was terminal. They couldve given up when our hospice nurse told us my dads life was down to hours. But they didnt. And they would never. They love eachother and they always will. They have for the first date. My parents overcame any obstacle thrown at them, holding hands and smiling. It blows my mind how incredibly blessed I am to grow up with parents like mine. I love you both to the moon & back. Thank yall for everything.
