Sometimes we are confronted with life changing risks. As much as we have less risky opportunities, we also face very risky but unmissable chances that can have impacts beyond our imagination. It has been proven time and again that the change makers that have reshaped and redefined our world have always been the optimistic risk takers that believe wholeheartedly that tyranny, injustice or indignity must be confronted and defeated. In the process, many have made huge sacrifices and lost their lives and limbs fighting for freedom and justice. The struggle for a better world is not over and will never end as long as abuse of power, inequality, oppression, corruption and injustice continues to ravage the lives of so many innocent people around the world. Our struggle for freedom, justice and dignity has never been easy. So many have been killed, exiled, jailed, disappeared, tortured and abused. Journalists such Reeyot Alemu, Eskinder Nega, Woubishet Taye...political dissidents like Andualem Arage, Bekele Gerba, Olbana Lelisa,... religious leaders like Ustaz Abubakir, Ahmed Jebel and so many known and nameless Ethiopians are facing unimaginable injustice for telling the truth and standing against oppression. These ordinary people with extraordinary resolve have been labelled terrorists by the very people terrorizing the whole nation. In the last few days, passionate young bloggers, activists and students from Addis Ababa to Oromia have been detained, beaten and shot at. TPLFs sword of Damocles is hanging over the heads of so many young visionaries once again. In the face of all the adversities, we should never relent and give up the good fight. As far as I am concerned, I am determined once again to make every effort in my power to continue the struggle more vigorously. We should unite as victims of injustice and reach out to each other regardless of our differences. Freedom is not free! Let us not expect a few people to take the whole cost and burden. We must collectively pay the price no matter how much it costs!
