Sometimes we are just meant to be there in someone elses time of need. As we were gathering our personal belongings to go home, a call for a cardiac arrest went out. Being the only available ambulance in the city, we got the call. The combined efforts of BFD, medic, supervisor and my partner may have made a difference tonight. Its times like this I truly feel fortunate to be able to help others. Im not looking for a pat on the back, not trying to embellish the job we do, nor am I trying to sound like some glory boy hero by any means. Its just nice to finish a shift knowing you quite possibly stopped the reaper from doing his job. My thoughts are with our patient and family, hoping our efforts were not in vane.
