Song of the Day: After going to see Whiplash last night (the new holder of #10 on my list of top 10 movies of 2014) Adam Thompson and I had a conversation on Jazz, so it seemed obvious that a jazz pick was in order. I dont claim to be any kind of expert, i took band in grades 7-9, and then guitar form 10-12, so i have some musical knowledge but that was mostly school stuff and the further i get away from it the less i retain, but ill always have an appreciation for the more traditional instrumental musics. I only occasionally listen to jazz, there was a point where i listened to some Jane Monhiet, while doing writing for NaNoWrimo and other projects i put Miles Davis Kind of Blue on my iPod which seemed to do the trick. and finally there was a jazz band that did some covers of pop songs that i dug called the Bad Plus, most notably they cover Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, its incredible. But they also cover Karma Police by Radiohead, which happens to be one of the songs that even 10 plus years later I still remember the chord progression on guitar. so here is a great reinterpretation of an already fantastic song, by way of Jazz. https://youtube/watch?v=U66ZBGaGd1I
