Sons and daughters of the soil, students at large receive our sincere revolutionary greetings. We write this communiqué following the unfortunate collapse of the Mass Meeting at the hands of a clearly incompetent chairperson, just to brief you on the actual state of affairs on campus free from any propaganda. As genuine custodians of students interests, we reserve a right to communicate with the general student populace more especially when their futures are at stake and taken for granted by self-serving bunch individuals. Just as preparations for a jamboree scheduled to take place over the weekend in the form of a Mr and Miss Freshet and Fresher’s bash, lest we forget that some of our fellow students are still faced with exclusions of various forms ranging from “double registration” in the Engineering faculty, NSFAS related problems, etc. It boggles minds of every honest citizen of Ibika Campus that a social “Razzmatazz” can be prioritized over the future of our fellow students. As much as social beings, we support jubilee programs it is just morally confusing to compromise students’ solidarity and host such an event whilst fellow students are still struggling to secure their future and others are still in their practical lesson i.e. Faculty of Education. That being said, receive the below report: 1. NSFAS and semester student’s registration Students that qualified and registered through NSFAS in the first semester and still qualify for the scheme in this semester; possibility are that they might be accommodated into the system if Finance Office formalize the agreement. The situation is different for those that only qualified for NSFAS only for this semester since their future is still hanging in balance as no resolution has been reached on this matter. This suffices to say that for all semester courses students there are currently no clear resolutions as things stands that they will be registered. Dear fellow students, remember last winter when the leadership of the campus was under the democratic and progressive leadership of the mighty Pan Africanist Student Movement of Azania (PASMA), no one was required to pay “double registration” fee and chaos such the one currently prevailing was neither thought of nor imagined. It will be criminal not to mention ill-treatment of WSU students by certain service providers (e.g. Spar retail Store, etc.) that continue to disallow students to procure certain essential items purely on the basis that their students of WSU. 2. The planned social jamboree (Mr and Ms Freshet pageant and Freshers bash): It is now an open secret that there is a planned social jamboree or extravaganza scheduled to take on campus over the coming weekend. As indicated in the opening remarks of this communiqué PASMA is not against such activities as per the propaganda spread by some insensitive and self-serving individuals and political formations. We are aware that students as social beings, still need to have entertainment as part of student social culture. All that PASMA asks is, how intelligent is it to host social ham dinger whilst there is still plethora of problems facing fellow students relating directly to their future in the institution? Isn’t this tantamount to hosting a party whilst there is a funeral in your next door neighbour? Ours is nothing but a concern purely on the basis of principles morality and solidarity amongst students. 3. Our Stances: The mighty Pan Africanist Student Movement of Azania remains resolute and unshaken in our demand that absolutely no student must be excluded whether academically, financially and even socially (as it is currently done to students of Faculty of Education). We demand an immediate registration of students affected by the evil of “double payment” of registration fee, demand immediate resolution of all NSFAS related problems and all Intel Card related matters must also receive immediate attention. Students are advised to continue to come to PASMA Office for the resolution of all their problems related directly or indirectly to their lives in the institution. PASMA remains the only trusted students’ vanguard and dependable custodian of students’ interests. Yours in socialist struggle PASMA
