Sorrows have a way to find sympathy but nothing beyond that!! How else would you describe the plight of Orissa as a state? Battered by floods, cyclone and droughts almost every year, managing to get sympathetic words from across the whole world but hardly an helping hand from Centre - Government of India in the last one decade. Should thousands of people from Orissa DIE to get attention from Government of India? Should the super cyclone a week ago, manage to kill some thousands to have funds and media attention for restoration and normalization of life. How fickle, how silly and how stupid can be media? How can some of the best guys in journalism just be happy to get the next sensational news? Since enough people didnt die in Orissa and in a very unfortunate incident in MP the very next day, many innocent people lost their lives in stampede. All of the national attention shifted to MP and then back to politics (Coalgate, Birla, Namo, Gold digging). Lakhs of people have a watery bed and clear sky as roof, across many districts of Orissa when they go back to their homes. Neither national media nor agency worth mentioning, seems a little concerned. Winters will not help these people in the next few weeks. No water, no electricity in rural areas..... I am not pro or anti Congress/BJP/BJD. But I have no doubts in my mind, that Congress ruled Government in Delhi, believes that all hardship faced by rural, poor people of Orissa will combine with anti-incumbency to give them some MPs or a win in state assembly???? Is the GRAND plan or what? Therefore delay in relief work or lack of funds for the same after all is going to help them!!! Where are the so called national leaders? Why would they not visit this state, at least as a gesture, a token, may be a fake smile to cheer up an old man who has lost almost everything apart from life. For mere mortals like us - If you can donate something, do donate for these people. They might not thank you in person, you might not get a chance to get photographed as someone bending in fake humility while giving out blankets, while old people stand in queue to receive it from your thanks with teary eyes and some blessings..... But you will surely get a nameless, faceless blessings in a silent prayer.
