Today at our first parent teacher conference, Londyns teacher told me that she was among the best prepared students she has ever taught in 25 years of teaching. I’m proud to brag that my daughter received the top grade of “consistently demonstrates the skill” in 5 out of 6 items in this section of the report card…and to think that two years ago, in the fall of 2012 she started kindergarten at a new school. I was nervous about how transition to kindergarten was going to go, particularly because she has an August birthday and was going to be one of the younger ones in her class. My first clue that my she was extremely well prepared for grade one was that she came home THRILLED after the first day of school. She LOVED her teacher and she LOVED the new activities and projects and couldn’t wait to go back to school the next day. She has continued to love school more and more as the year has went on. She is continuing to do well academically, socially, and emotionally. She reads out loud with joy and is able to understand what she’s reading. She can count to over 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. She can add and subtract. She can tell time. She asked for arts and science kits for her 6th birthday and they are among her very favorite things to play with. She’s happy and curious and motivated. I truly cannot be more proud of her accomplishment than I am today.
