Sorry, but am I being thick? The Mercury is promoting the planting of trees to commemorate the war dead via the Woodland Trust. Fair enough, good idea, but why does it say Your local paper will be paid 10% of donations to help pay for the cost of this appeal. The remaining 90% of your donation will go to the Trust. The Mercury is also asking to print the stories of those who dedicate a tree for a family member. Since when did the Mercury (and other local papers around the country apparently) start charging for running such a story? Why would anyone be asked to basically pay a third party (the papers) for advertising out of their donation, especially when its a charity concerned? Maybe Ive totally misread this. The link is here with further links to the Woodland Trust in the blurb. x bridgwatermercury.co.uk/news/11385468.Dedicate_a_tree_to_create_a_lasting_tribute_to_those_who_lived_and_served_during_the_First_World_War/?ref=la
