Sorry for the delay in updating you guys on my dads surgery as I know so many of you have been faithfully praying all day. We didnt get the news we were hoping for and I wanted to make sure I told all of my children before posting anything on facebook. We were certainly hoping that the tumor could be removed, leaving the veins and arteries intact. Upon further examination, the doctor had to make the decision that the tumor was actually larger than they had expected and had the veins completely encased with no hope of saving it. Using another vein was no longer an option either. They simply did some minor repairs to the artery and were forced to stop as it was just too risky to proceed. He will be in ICU for a few more days and then be in a regular room for about a week and then have to stay in the CTCA guest rooms for another week all while continuing to heal from the surgery. At sometime, we will meet with the radiation doctor, the oncologist and probably several others. They will help him decide on his options and decide what is best. Please keep mama, daddy and our whole family in your prayers in the coming weeks. I copied the following statements from my brother because I really couldnt have said it any better myself! We didnt get the news we wanted today, but this is what I know: God is still God Dad is surrounded by folks who love him and are giving him the best care possible. Please pray that dad will rest well and recover quickly. Pray for peace for mom and dad. To God be the glory, great things He has done.....and will continue to do.
