Sorry this is long - Yesterday we had a pulmonary appt to discuss her sleep study. Her sleep study we found out a week ago that it came back the SAME - MODERATE OBSTRUCTIVE APNEA. It was gut wrenching to hear this. She stayed above 90 pulse ox, so I was completely confused. Since the beginning of Aug she had been throwing up meds and getting worse and sounding hoarse. So I was worried this might have something to do with it. LONG story short. - I thought she might have delayed gastric emptying which would cause the reflux to spurt up and both can cause Apnea! GI dept was being difficult in allowing me to switch her meds to her J tube and bypass the stomach all together. The denied me so I said fine no more meds. She has been off of them since 10/3 and she is doing awesome. I also started her on a probiotic on 10/4. So the pulmonologist agreed that the gastric stuff could totally explain this report. So they decided to do a test with her RIGHT there and they took her off of oxygen and monitored her for 25 mins. She did AMAZING! Stayed at 100% pulse ox. So now she only needs oxygen at night!!!! We have another sleep study in 5 weeks which will be an overnight study. So lets hope I can fix the gastric stuff beforehand. Today we had the gastric emptying study and she did AMAZING!! They put in her stomach 20ml of formula and about 8ml of water and she DIDNT THROW UP!!!! I am sooo happy!!! She did so good!!! We get these results in 2-3 days! So little by little heading in the right direction!
