Thus, when we heard the deafening screech of tires amidst anguishing barks, hearts wrenched - another murder on the highway? Everybody momentarily left their chores to satisfy their curiosity as to whose misfortune has occurred on this cool Sunday. The lady from whom I was buying mobile airtime out of horror and shock lamented Oh Awurade! Car abo Promise The driver of the Toyota hilux pick up in an untypical fashion did not run over Promise. He reversed and parked by the side of the road leaving Promise still panting and kicking the legs in the middle of the road which was virtually empty on a Sunday morning. Few minutes later, a young man came running to the scene with an arm in the air trying to find the sleeve of the shirt and his unbuckled belt dangling. Hes had a distress call. He knelt by Promise on the median and I saw tears roll down his cheeks. The expression on the faces of onlookers seem say is this guy serious? Crying because of a dog? Perhaps I was the only one who understood and shared his pain. It reminded me of Lukeman who we lost in similar circumstances almost a year ago. A very painful memory. I remember the late afternoon I had a call from my daddy and in a very somber tone broke the heart wrenching news that Lukeman had been ran over by truck and died. I screamed and shed tears. Lukeman was more than a dog. It has become a part of us. Theres no warm welcoming home than his barks of ecstasy and leaps of joy. I miss such a true and loyal friend. I feel so sorry for Promise and its owner as he carried it away. I turned into a corner and found that Adwen wo ntao mu drinking bar was just creaking up to life. To wash away the sorrow, I request for a very chilled 1931. Its Sunday isnt it? And isnt tomorrow Monday a holiday? And oh what a painful way to remember Lukeman, Promises calamity.
