Sounddogs was contacted to provide Train sounds for the Korean - TopicsExpress

Sounddogs was contacted to provide Train sounds for the Korean movie Snowpiercer, we read the script and hopped on the Pacific Starlight train to Oakland to record vintage trains at the Niles Canyon Train Museum in Sunol, Ca. The script and productions needs varied from high speed trains in China to post apocalyptic trains with definitive character, thats usually found in old trains. From the SoundStorm SFX library they had recorded thirty days in Japan so there were trains there, and most importantly we had recorded trains for a recent X-Men movie that took place in Japan. We compiled all of our Sounddogs recordings as well. On the Pacific Starlight I wandered quiet freely on the train and recorded the baggage car which provided the best sounds of the car hopping and wheels clacking on the rails. At Niles Canyon the collection of trains is incredible. The ability to walk around the moving train (under supervision) and recorded ECU and Close perspectives was incredible. I wish I could record all the trains that they had, the collection was incredible to see. If you get a chance to visit Sunol, CA I strongly recommend visiting the train museum. Although we did not get to go to China to record I did record the Metro in Hong Kong recently. PS My voice over is quiet stilted, an actor I am not :) https://youtube/watch?v=euTPQ8LveWM&feature=youtu.be
