Sounds like the NY Police department is proving what plenty in America think - that SOME (not all) police departments in general are the biggest gangs of all. If I understand correctly, they are pissed at the Mayor for allowing protests to go on, which endangered police officers, ending in two officers being shot (it is a stretch to connect the two, any person can walk up to an officer and put two caps in his ass). 1. Trying to prevent people from protesting is taking away their rights - it just so happens to be the people are protesting the cops. The cops wanting to prevent this is a clear sign of Un-American iron fisted rule - you know, the thing we formed this country to get away from. 2. The act of throwing a hissy fit because people protested and a bad seed caused some issues, so in return they slam the Mayor for holding up Americans rights above the Police Departments opinion, is another show of Gang mentality and goes to prove without a shadow of a doubt that groups of police officers (I didnt say all) have an Us against them mentality - where all of them is everyone who doesnt agree with the PDs political views or standing on certain issues. Hell officers are quoted saying it yesterday, lol. They are accusing the Mayor of not standing with them. News flash, he has been appointed to stand and work FOR THE PEOPLE. Cops are first and foremost public servants, as the mayor is, TO THE PEOPLE. Therefore it only makes sense for the Mayor to stand up for the peoples rights to protest. Its quite interesting to watch these departments dig their own graves - they just keep adding fuel to the fire every time they come out against the people and for the department. This is exactly why when a cop kills an unarmed person for a minor crime, who wasnt a threat (Eric Garner), it is the higher ups duty to Indict the officers or at the least punish them with something minor. When a tragedy happens against the people the masses need a scapegoat - a fall guy, or they go crazy. Until there is change I believe this is going to just keep getting worse and the PDs are going to keep adding nails to their own coffins. I still think we would be fine with just Fireman who do most of the cops job, with small forces of Officers reserved for violent crimes, not every day patrolling and serving minor tickets.
