South New Brighton Park Proposed Playground Upgrade. Heres a link about plans for upgrading this playground and how to have your say. The vision for the new playground is to create an exceptional new playground for local residents and visitors to enjoy. To achieve this we have sourced a 6.85 m high Birds Nest Tower. This will be the first in New Zealand. In consultation with Ngai Tahu this structure was chosen for its, resemblance to kai (food collection) nets, its height promoting coastal views, sturdy timber structures that resonate with the pre earthquake trees and the high level ropes course that have subsequently gone.
