Sovata, Romania Sovata is a mountain famous therapy place in Mures County, Romania, place which is internationally-recognized as health and spa resort. Sovata became well-known for its salty lakes. The Romans were the first to mine salt in this area. Holes in the rock were filled with rainwater and springs, which resulted in the lake system visible today. Bear Lake is the most famous of these formations, which was named for its shape. Because of its extremely high salt content, bathers can float on the surface of the lake and it is often referred to as the dead sea of Transylvania. Bear Lake is the only helio-therm lake in Europe and the largest in the world. Heliotherm means that it heats from the bottom to the surface, and underneath there is a mountain of salt, so it also has salty water. In the summer, the water temperature on the surface is between 20-25°C, and 35-40°C at a depth of 2 meters, making it a perfect experience in which to float and totally unwind in beautiful natural surroundings. In addition to this delightful experience, the thermal water offers gentle relief for musculoskeletal and skin diseases, and is used for inhalation treatments as well. The mud can be especially recommended for gynecological complaints. The hotels in Sovata provide medical and wellness treatments administered by highly-trained professionals. Also, the offer of pools and saunas is very generous. The tourists have also plenty of touristic attractions in the area: Sovata’s churches, the former Romanian royal summer palace and the beautifully carved gates, Sighisoara city or Praid salty mine, Dracula castle in Bran and a lot more. During winter, Sovata is a wonderful skiing resort. For organizing a trip or for more information do not hesitate to contact us: Tel: 0040 760610995 E-Mail: adventures.romania@gmail
