"Sparked by angry social media users accusing Home Depot of price gouging during Calgary’s flooding disaster, the hardware giant has apologized for what it called a mistake. A photograph circulating on social media of a receipt from the 1818 16 Ave. N.W. Home Depot and dated June 21 shows the store charged $42 for 24 bottles of Dasani water. The photograph prompted outrage on social media by people accusing Home Depot of price gouging. But on Saturday Home Depot issued a statement on Facebook saying it was a mistake. “Calgary, we apologize for the mistake made at one of our stores regarding the price of water,” the statement said. “There was an internal error which affected a small number of customers. “As soon as we were notified we took immediate action, resolved the issue and reached out directly to the customers affected asking them to contact us so we can make it right.” The retailer said its priority is the safety of its customers and associates and ensuring they are able to get everything they need to make it through this trying time."
