Speaking of politicians, did anyone else get Joe Mullerys legislative update? Rep. Joe Mullery (59A) - Legislative Update I recently met with the new U.S. District Attorney. He said that he has added two priorities: 1) Heroin has gone from a very small problem to one that you could almost say is exploding in significance. (within the last year, I remember talking to a cop who said the #1 location for heroin sales was the northside). He intends to really crack down on it before it gets more of a foothold. 2) Guns and gangs. He indicated that if his prosecutors are convinced beyond a doubt that they have the right culprit and the right charge and the necessary evidence to convict, they wont back away just because there might be the slightest possibility that they might not keep their 100% win record intact. He says some people felt that in the past a case wouldnt be pursued by a prosecutor (or theyd plea bargain it out way lower than they should) merely because there might be the slightest possibility that the jury wouldnt convict. I think this is a good approach. Seriously, he gives us a two paragraph rundown on his meeting with the US District Attorney and rubber stamps it as a good approach? Thats it?!?
