Spent the day at IPA conference today (again tomorrow). Looked at insolvency strategies as well as three ATO speakers on varying subjects including firms needing to lodge up to 85% of returns on time. Only problem is clients dont play the game - if we can get them in in a timely fashion we will certainly get them done, but if everyone leave it to the last moment the ATO take the view we should delete them from our lodgement list and let them suffer the consequences - not really in the Banks Consultancy code of ethics!!! The number of people who leave it to the last moment and still expect to have returns prepared and lodged at this time of year is amazing.
