They help us to understand our past, and provide glimpses of whats in store in the future. Spirit Animals and Animal Totems teach us to live more simply and spiritually. They help us to focus on those traits to which we aspire, and aid us as we develop our personal and spiritual identity. Earth Spirit Animal Totems include: Armadillo, Bear, Beaver, Bobcat, Buffalo, Coyote, Deer, Domestic Cat, Domestic Dog, Elephant, Fox, Horse, Lion, Monkey, Panther, Wolf and more. Air Spirit Animal Totems include: Bat, Blue Jay, Cardinal, Dove, Eagle, Falcon, Hummingbird, Owl, Peacock, Raven, Robin, Swan, Vulture, Woodpecker and more. Water Spirit Animal Totems include: Alligator, Beaver, Crab, Crocodile, Dolphin, Fish, Frog, Lobster, Octopus, Seahorse, Shark, Turtle and more. Fire - or more specifically Solar - Spirit Animal Totems include: Rooster, Salamander, Spider, Swan, Dragon and Thunderbird. My recommendation, though, is if you are serious about discovering your Spirit Animal or Animal Totem that you spend some time in nature, meditate on what your animal might be, be open to which animal comes to you and trust your intuition. And remember, just because you really like a certain animal, that doesnt mean its your spirit Animal or Animal Totem.
