Spoke with the guys of the Jao Tha organisation, who are anchored - TopicsExpress

Spoke with the guys of the Jao Tha organisation, who are anchored with 4 boats at Wat Sawang Arom. Seems there are only 3 teams of 4 flat bottoms consisting of a small cutting mill boat, an excavator boat and two logistic boats to cover the tributaries. A second team is apparently working in Nakhon Pathom and a third team somewhere on the Tha Jin River. Jao Tha HQ is near the Siriyalai Palace in Ayutthaya. It is the fourth time this year they work on the stretch between the Bang Pahan Water Regulator and the mouth of the Lopburi River. Conclusion of the above is that their activities should be reviewed. First of all they should start at the top and not at the bottom of the river; its like mopping with an open water tap. The main problem they have is a place to stock the water hyacinth which they collect from the river, as nobody living along the river wants those heaps of stinking weed in their back garden. Their efficiency is as thus close to nil (hence the 4 times). These guys need to be fitted with additional barges including steersman, to load the collected weed and to transport it on a designated spot (by the authorities) to be unloaded. I hope somebody with many stars at the Jao Tha gets a wake-up call!
