Spot finally has his Canadian citizenship! Yesterday, he made the long journey from Bucharest by road, then by air to Paris and Toronto, and finally several hours more to our farm. He coped well with the trip, although it is clear that he still has a very long way to go, as far as trusting people. At the foster place in Romania, he stayed in a dog house during the day, and came out to eat at night. He feels very safe in a crate, and resists being taken out of it, to the point of offering to bite. Likewise he will be picked up only for a few seconds before he attempts to bite. This and the problems with his back legs, are the reasons we have not offered him for adoption, and subsequently the reason we did not fundraise for his airfare. We anticipate that it will be some time if ever, before he would be ready to move on to an adopter, so for now he will stay with us, and we will take baby steps to encourage him to accept handling, and being on a leash. Thank you Cristy and Dana for getting this boy to safety, for dealing with vets and fosters and moving him from place to place, I know it was not easy! I do also thank everyone who helped with his vet and foster costs, from the bottom of my heart, he would not be safe if it werent for you! I will keep you updated on his progress.
