He passed his teammate Duncan who won it in 99 at 23yo. Leonard was 7yo when Duncan first won his finals MVP. Also, Leonard is the fifth player to win Finals MVP & not be voted to the all-star game that year. The last person that happened to was Chauncey Billups when he won the Finals MVP as the Pistons beat the Lakers mAking Larry Brown the only man in basketball history to win an NCAA championship & NBA championship as head coach. This series showed that the Spurs was on a mission & the Heat got outmatched, outplayed, outmanned, & out coached in every aspect of the game. When Bird got to Boston, Robert Chief Parrish was there. As the years came along, you draft Rockets head coach Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge, Cedric Cornbread Maxwell who was a Finals MVP. When Jordan got there, he had ppl like Stacey King, Cliff Livingstone, Craig Hodges, B.J. Armstrong, etc. Scottie Pippen was DRAFTED by the Seattle Supersonics(now Oklahoma City Thunder) & was TRADED on draft day to the Bulls...Before Kobe got to the Lakers, Shaq was ALREADY there. The Lakers traded for Kobe on draft day from the Charlotte Hornets...these team built on talent.
