Staff does an awesome job, and tries very hard to make sure - TopicsExpress

Staff does an awesome job, and tries very hard to make sure everyone gets all the attention they need. But, staff cant be everywhere, as hard as they try. But attendees pretty much are everywhere. What if attendees were the eyes and ears of staff? What if every attendee had a walkie-talkie to let staff know when there was a problem? ...okay, that would be a TERRIBLE idea. Staff, who are pretty professional, are playing around and joking with those things all the time. Put a few thousand attendees on channel, and youd never hear any of the important bits because of all the chatter. Not to mention would be expensive as hell. So walkie-talkies are out. But... the vast majority of attendees already have a cell phone. If theres a problem, theyve all the equipment needed to rapidly call for help. They just need someplace to call. I mean, 911 works for major problems, which we hopefully wont have. Could we have a dedicated phone in ConOps to relay important information? Things like Someone fell in Palace C, could we get a member of MedStaff, please? Security to the north balcony of the Zen Garden? A room party is getting awful rowdy. Sadly there is a potential for abuse, with someone crank calling the line. But with caller ID being fairly universal, I feel the risk is minimal.
