Started week 2 of the Pan American training camp today at the Olympic Training Center..ing off an awesome 4th of July weekend leaves me even more inspired to represent this awesome country next week in Mexico City! A big take-away from the training camp last week was the importance of recovery in between matches. The new rules designate 30 minutes rest in between matches at the international level which is time that must be well spent. The USA national team conducted some high speed research (with physiologists and other professionals) that determined that 8 minutes of moderate to high paced air dyne biking immediately following a match was best way to flush lactic acid and promote optimal recovery. Running for 8 minutes was next best which may be more feasible for most people as air dyne bikes are hard to come by. I would also like to emphasize the importance of regaining mental and emotional energy by focusing on what went well during that match while learning from any mistakes that may have occurred. The next step is to rest/rehydrate/refuel and begin your pre-competition routine 10-15 minutes prior to that next match. (if your sport allows less recovery time, i.e. BJJ, just modify the times but dont skip any part of the process). #TEAMUSA #HAPPY4THOFJULY!
