Starting today, for 12 consecutive days (15th-26th Sept 2014), NTV Uganda is running a media advocacy campaign against Torture in Uganda. The infomercials detail stakeholder views on torture and will be aired during Prime News starting at 9:00pm. This campaign is running with the support of the EU Delegation to Uganda. The European Union is funding a multi-country project that seeks to strengthen and enhance torture prevention, rehabilitation and accountability in East Africa. The project is implemented by the African Centre for Torture Victims (ACTV) and one of the key actions implemented in Uganda is a Media Advocacy Campaign against torture, to place emphasis on implementation of the Prevention and Prohibition of Torture Act 2012.
